Why is loma linda a good school
Service - Providing timely access to cost-effective, comprehensive, whole-person care for all patients, without regard for their circumstances or status. Developing the Whole Person - The Christian view of wholeness holds that the needs of patients go beyond the healing of the body, and that the development of students involves more than the training of the mind. We are dedicated to promoting physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual growth in our faculty and our students and to transforming our daily activities into personal ministries.
Reaching the World - Providing whole-person care wherever the opportunity arises, participating with the world community in the provision of local medical education, providing international physicians and scientists the opportunities for professional interaction and enrichment, sharing the good news of a loving God as demonstrated by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ—these are the goals of the students, faculty, and graduates of Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
Values and Lifestyle. Application Timeline. Financial Aid. International Students. Regional Campuses. Amen U. I would highly recommend Loma Linda for those who want quality education to prepare for the professional workforce.
In addition, there are great support systems in place for students of various backgrounds. The mission and values of Loma Linda University "to make man whole," creates a setting of advancing medical science and to provide a stimulating clinical and research environment for the education of physicians, nurses, and other health professionals.
Kiyanah Myles. The students are very welcoming and helpful when it comes to studies and working on projects together. The university itself is very diverse, with people coming from all over the country to study. Pros: The professors are interpersonal and are engaged. Loma Linda has great networking opportunities, especially for those interested in the health field, as they have the hospital close by.
For those in the counseling department there is not many scholarships available, so financial aid loans will have to do, but the bummer is the high cost of tuition and living.
I do not live on campus, but I know the cost of dorms are on the high end, so living off campus is a bit cheaper. They do have a small community of people who rent out rooms, studios, apartments for a decent price,; you have to start early, but they are decent places to stay. The community is small, so you would have to drive out at least 30m min to get to a larger social environment, but its worth it in order to have "self care". Also, if one of the reasons you are attending this school is because of "religious" reasons, the church is on campus and they have services that appeal to the young adult crowd, along with other young adult and service activities that appeal to not just those of a faith background.
They also have opportunities to go on mission trips. Cons: The cons of the Behavioral Health program is that some of the books used are old, which does not allow students to gain advanced information in the classroom, unless they do more searching outside of class time. For those of a faith background, if you are looking for classes that integrate faith, this is not it.
I am a Christian and I was looking for an integration of devotion or of the sort, however, during exams, professors do pray, but I guess my thought of a faith based university looked differently.
Overall, my experience in the last few quarters have been great, especially meeting of new people in my cohort and others in the MFT and Child Life Specialist programs, as we have classes together, so it builds and expands the relationships while on this journey. Our faculty always goes the extra mile for their students and I could not be happier at any other pharmacy program. The school offers many clinical and academic opportunities that help facilitate learning.
Thomas Shank. It's an incredible place to learn in! Their facilities and services available are top notch. As a student you are opportunities are limitless, from research to the complexities of cases you see. Asharie Campbell. I too believe in the whole man- the spiritually, physically, and mentally healthy individual- and I prefer to be in an environment that supports and provides the opportunities to fulfill my continuous goal of being healthy.
I am also attracted to the outreach philosophy of Loma Linda University. Loma Linda provides numerous opportunities to meet the needs of the community as well as to travel abroad. There is not a loan repayment option as they claim. In addition, many of the students did not match on match day this last year. Stats are heavily emphasized in the first year which is great, unfortunately there has been a huge cut in faculty so our stats teacher was a student who had just graduated from the LLU program.
Most of us do not feel at all competent in this area which is hugely detrimental. There is not a sense of confidentiality, and the faculty and students have a vast disconnect. The department is very dated as we are still operating on Windows 97, and have a computer lab worse than you local public library. Most of us use our the library resources from our undergrad institutions since we can barely access electronic journals through the LLU database.
The faculty are stuck years behind, as most of them never even attend APA conferences, and few have subscriptions to journals. There are two good professors in the program, however they are both too busy doing other things. The program makes many promises to entice students to come. Please do not believe them!!! The will not stay true to these promises. I am not the only student that feels this way. Many do, but are afraid to speak up. To corroborate all I am saying, the APA accreditation committee has not granted LLU the year accreditation most psychology programs are given Many of us fear we will not graduate with an APA approved degree.
They are a money mill!! The program is on block tuition which they try and make you believe is beneficial to you You will never take overload on your course schedule because they simply never provide you with enough classes to even take. Most of the 2nd years are only being offered two courses this quarter, however, we must pay block tuition! They accepted more students then they should in terms of capacity, and as a result there is not enough lab spaces for us.
Please please please listen to what I am saying! This school is extremely expensive, and what you will get in return for you money will deeply trouble you. There are so many universities in this great country, I strongly urge you to consider the hundred of others. Again, I can only speak to the psychology department In closing the psychology building is a converted business office from the 60s and there are only 3 classrooms.
Ask good questions: how many people get employement after graduation, what is the average age of students, how many students do you accept who have at least 2 years in the field. Student body is friendly, most teachers are friendly and helpful.
Remember this IS a religous school, do not think it isn't. The distance program online had potential but was very poorly implemented. More than half the courses had minimal interaction with the instructor, leading me to believe the school is more interested in the income from online students than providing a good education. Courses were not developed according to the published timetable, and therefore specific courses I intended to take were never available.
The director of the distance learning program changed in the middle of my degree, and the new director is a significant reason to avoid the program. Communication with the office of distance learning is nearly impossible, which is a serious problem for an online program. If the distance program at LLU is revamped and they hire a new director, this could be a program to consider. Otherwise, spend a little bit more and get a great distance education from Johns Hopkins.
In my department, teachers are generally friendly and helpful. However, there's always the few that mess things up. Overall I feel I'm getting a good education. There's a few classes that seem worthless, a few classes that almost kill you with the amount of work. But the department wants you to succeed and they're willing to help you out.
Faculty is aloof and uninterested student welfare. Must be very careful about politics. No support whatsoever for thesis or dissertation. Considered by many to be the time of a young person's lif My name is Esteban Correa.

This school is an absolute joke. Recommended: What to do for a Successful Interview. For graduate school, when the stakes are high already, they add drama and discrimination against people they don't like to the mix as well.
Loma Linda University staff are preoccupied with religious legalism and compliance with outdated religious superstitions. The physical therapy program is excellent.
Very disappointing. LLU is a great school for public health and the program is really what you make of it! School lies to students and is run by an administration that makes decisions based entirely on emotional whims and personal feelings.
I completely agree with the other review of the physical therapy program completed by another student. This school is very expensive. I love my experience at LLU! The psychology program is really sad Consider this option carefully This institution is run by a religious organization which is prone to religious legalism and hidebound social traditions. This is definitely a worthless school. Please please please please do not come to this school!!!
This is a good university for students who have no practical experience. The school of public health has a good reputation, the on-campus courses were fair, and some of the faculty are excellent. Most of the university is excellent. Very little support for students. StudentsReview Advice!
